Offering a diverse range of electric vehicle product lines, BYD Indonesia continues to receive positive responses from the public.
KatadataOTO – The electric car market in Indonesia continues to show excellent performance. This year, the market share of EVs (Electric Vehicles) in the country has reached 12 percent.
Referring to wholesale data from Gaikindo (Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries), car sales in the country have reached the 710 thousand mark.
Meanwhile, sales of electric vehicles have surpassed 83 thousand. This means there has been a significant increase this year.
“We managed to set an EV sales record for two months (October-November). Because we were able to ship (to dealers) around 10 thousand units each month,” said Eagle Zhou, President Director of PT BYD Motor Indonesia at a Media Gathering event in Sentul, Bogor, West Java (11/12).
According to him, BYD in Indonesia has already dominated the electric car market in Indonesia. Even though the brand from China is just over 2 years old.
It was mentioned that BYD Indonesia holds a market share of 57 percent (January – October 2025). Establishing the reputation of a new brand in Indonesia.
“Nationally, the EV market growth reached 15 percent in November 2025. We are proud to be a key player with a significant contribution,” explained Eagle.
It was further stated that BYD and Denza have shipped 47,300 units to dealers. The figure above is for the period of January – November 2025.
It is said that the numbers achieved by both BYD and Denza have surpassed the total BEV achievements in the country throughout 2024.
Because last year, the sales of all electric cars in the country only reached 43 thousand in one year.
“In November 2025, the national EV market achieved a growth of 15 percent. BYD is fortunate to be able to play a meaningful role,” said Eagle.
BYD Indonesia is currently still a manufacturer receiving incentives from the government. Thus, the price of the vehicles sold can be competitive.
However, it is known that next year, the market conditions will be slightly different. Because the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, has stated there will be no more subsidies.
Contrary to the statement from the Minister of Industry, government incentives will still be provided in early 2026.
