KatadataOTO – News of the arrival of the Daihatsu Ayla EV has resurfaced. This electric car is touted to be marketed in Indonesia.

This was revealed after the Electric Vehicle (EV) appeared in a video during the nine millionth unit production ceremony at the Daihatsu Sunter Factory, North Jakarta, on Friday (22/08).

Although the Daihatsu Ayla EV was shown in an incomplete form, this issue has sparked various speculations, such as the official launch time not being far off.

This is because the appearance of the prospective Daihatsu electric car seems to give a clear signal that the Japanese company wants to participate in the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) line.

Hearing this, Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) has spoken out. They commented on the possibility of the Ayla EV hitting the roads in Indonesia.

“We have been open, right? We are trying things out in the pictures. (It is) part of the commitment step conveyed by our R&D, to be the most complete, largest, and most comprehensive,” said Sri Agung Handayani, Marketing & Corporate Communication Director of ADM.

The woman, who is often called Agung, explained that the appearance of the Daihatsu Ayla EV is a form of their commitment to welcoming the era of electrification in the country.

Moreover, the brand from the Land of the Rising Sun had previously stated its intention to develop electric four-wheeled vehicles. Specifically for domestic consumers.

“So we are starting everything as a research and development process,” Agung continued.

However, Agung did not disclose further information about the prospective compact Electric Vehicle.

Including the launch date, specifications, or price of the Daihatsu Ayla EV. Agung only explained that they are currently focused on development and research.

As a reminder, the Daihatsu Ayla EV was previously exhibited to the public at the GIIAS 2022 event at ICE BSD, Tangerang.

Three years ago, the Daihatsu Ayla EV was displayed with a silver color and a black roof. It was also combined with yellow accents on several parts.

The Daihatsu electric car carries a 32 kWh capacity battery as its main power source.

The battery supplies power to the drive motor, which can produce a maximum of 80 hp. It is capable of taking the Daihatsu Ayla EV up to 200 km on a single charge.

In terms of dimensions, the Daihatsu Ayla EV has a length of 3,640 mm, a width of 1,600 mm, and a height of 1,520 mm.

So it remains to be seen what the future holds for this electric car, whether it will be sold in Indonesia soon or not.
