KatadataOTO – The growth of electric cars in Indonesia is increasingly rapid. A number of new brands have emerged, tempting automotive enthusiasts.
Based on this, Castrol Indonesia is starting to consider marketing special EV (Electric Vehicle) products for consumers in the country.
“If there is a need, we will consider bringing it here,” said Amanda Parikesit, Head of Marketing for Castrol Indonesia in Jakarta, on Tuesday (14/1).
Amanda admitted that globally, Castrol already has a number of special products for use in electric four-wheeled vehicles.
Looking at their official website, the product is named Castrol On. It consists of EV Transmission Fluids, EV Thermal Fluids, and EV Greases.
All of these are expected to meet the needs of electric car users, which are now growing rapidly.
However, Amanda could not yet confirm when Castrol will market the above lubricants for consumers in the country.
“At the right time, we will definitely consider launching (products for electric cars). There are a number of considerations, we will first see the extent of the community's needs,” she asserted.
She stated that Castrol is still considering whether consumers in the country need a line of lubricants for electric cars or not.
So that when they are commercialized, they can be well-received by the public who have been using EVs for their daily activities.
For your information, Shell had previously introduced special lubricants for electric vehicles. They have even been used by several manufacturers in the country.
“We have supplied this Shell E-Fluid to electric car manufacturers in the country. However, I cannot mention their names,” said Andri Pratiwa, Managing Director of Lubricants for Shell Indonesia.
However, Andri explained that the product has not yet been released to the general market. This is because Shell is still observing the interest of electric four-wheeled vehicle owners.
Whether consumers need electric car lubricants or not. Therefore, they are monitoring the market conditions in the country.
“We have prepared for it, if the demand grows, we will launch it soon,” Andri added.
On the other hand, Jason Wong, Executive Vice President of Global Lubricants for Shell, explained that special lubricants for electric cars have been available since 2019. However, the product is still offered for the global market.
