KatadataOTO – The increasingly positive trend of electric cars in Indonesia has led many Chinese manufacturers to present more options, including Changan.

It should be noted that Changan has officially entered Indonesia, bringing two electric car models, namely the Deepal S07 and the Lumin Electric Vehicle (EV).

However, Changan has confirmed that five new products across different segments and powertrains will be introduced to Indonesian consumers. These are not limited to electric cars but also include Extended Range Electric Vehicles (EREV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV).

“Through two brands, Deepal and Changan, we will expand the product lineup by introducing new models in the next three years,” said Zhou Qing, Vice President of Changan South East Asia Business Unit in Jakarta, on Wednesday (19/11).

He emphasized that Indonesia is one of the largest markets in Southeast Asia. According to him, Changan's vehicle lineup has a great opportunity to meet the needs of consumers in Indonesia.

The price is also believed to be competitive and able to compete with other models in its class. This is because Changan's vehicle lineup will be locally assembled at a facility owned by the Indomobil Group.

“This (the Deepal S07 and Lumin) marks the beginning of Changan's new energy portfolio in Indonesia,” said Qing.

At the official launch event for the Changan brand in Indonesia, the brand brought several left-hand drive vehicle models as well as silhouettes of potential products for Indonesian consumers.

Among them were the Deepal S05, Avatr 012, Avatr 07, and the Deepal Q07. Then, in the presentation silhouette, a vehicle strongly suspected to be the Changan Hunter pickup was visible.

A number of Changan car lines are also available in EREV options. Currently, no manufacturer sells EREVs in Indonesia.

However, for the initial phase this year, two Changan models, the Deepal S07 and Lumin, will be their main focus.

The Deepal S07 fills the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) crossover segment, while the Lumin is a compact electric car and a potential new competitor for the Wuling Air ev and Seres E5.

However, the official prices for both Changan products will be announced today, Friday (21/11), at the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week or GJAW 2025.
