KatadataOTO – Chinese manufacturer, Changan officially enters Indonesia with their first two models, namely the Deepal SO7 and Lumin.

Previously in early 2025, Changan has established a partnership with Indomobil Group to market its vehicle lineup in Indonesia.

Its main focus is to present a variety of electrified cars for consumers. Changan's first two products fill different segments.

The Changan Lumin EV is a compact electric car that will compete with other rivals such as the Wuling Air ev and the BYD Atto 1.

Meanwhile, the Changan Deepal SO7 fills the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) crossover segment.

“Through our partnership with Indomobil Group, we are committed to building a strong foundation that includes world-class products, technology, and services to support the electrification transition in Indonesia,” said Ye Pei, Senior Executive Vice President of Changan Automobile in Jakarta, Wednesday (19/11).

He emphasized that to prepare for and accommodate the needs of domestic consumers, supporting facilities such as dealers and service programs will be increased.

Changan's commitment to a long-term presence is strengthened by plans for local assembly of their vehicle lineup in the country.

“Changan will follow the 'In Indonesia, For Indonesia' strategy. We will promote Research and Development (R&D) and local production,” Ye Pei affirmed.

Local assembly will also have the potential to make the price of Changan's electric cars more competitive to compete with other rivals.

Especially if it utilizes the electric car incentive program launched by the government to encourage the acceleration of electrification.

“We want to present a solution that combines global technology with a deep understanding of local needs,” said Andrew Nasuri, Director of Indomobil Group on the same occasion.

The positive trend of electric cars in Indonesia is also marked by the arrival of many new Chinese brands.

Changan believes that Indonesia is one of the most important markets in Southeast Asia with its large number of young people in their productive years.

Changan will debut its product line to consumers at the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week or GJAW 2025 event.

Consumers can see the units firsthand and enjoy test drive opportunities during the exhibition.
