Since its launch, Chery has delivered 2,000 units of J6 electric cars to consumers across Indonesia.
KatadataOTO – PT CSI (Chery Sales Indonesia) has delivered a total of 2,000 units of the electric car Chery J6 since its launch towards the end of 2024.
The symbolic handover ceremony was held in conjunction with a gathering with Chery J6 customers and representatives from related dealers from various regions.
The high interest in the Chery J6 is expected to be an attraction for people who want to switch to environmentally friendly vehicles with a competitive price tag.
“The enthusiasm for the Chery J6 is extraordinary, which certainly brings its own unavoidable challenges in the production process. However, our commitment to meeting consumer expectations is our top priority,” said Budi Darmawan, Sales Director of PT CSI in Jakarta, Saturday (22/03).
He hopes the units that reach the customers can accompany them during this year's Eid homecoming moment.
In addition to unit deliveries, Chery is also committed to expanding its dealer network to accommodate the service and after-sales needs of J6 owners.
As of March 2025, Chery already has 53 dealers spread throughout Indonesia, but they are still concentrated in the Jabodetabek area.
“There are 24 dealers operating throughout Jabodetabek and we will continue to develop our network, adding another eight dealers. Some will have their facilities upgraded,” said Sulistyo Nugroho, Head of Dealer and Network Development at PT CSI on the same occasion.
According to him, a number of existing outlets will have their concepts changed and enlarged to increase customer comfort when servicing their vehicles, including electric cars.
“There will be an outlet in Cinere in the near future. Then Cikarang, Kranji and several other cities like Sidoarjo, Padang to Jayapura in the near future,” Sulistyo affirmed.
Considering the Chery J6 has attracted public interest in various regions, including the island of Sumatra, namely Medan. This is because the J6's design and specifications are claimed to be capable of tackling various terrains, including off-road.
The government, represented by the Ministry of Industry, also expressed its appreciation for Chery's investment and for accelerating the adoption of environmentally friendly vehicles in Indonesia.
“In terms of investment, (the hope is) to collaborate more with local producers. The Ministry of Industry is committed to supporting automotive industry players to invest in Indonesia,” said Mahardi Tunggul Wicaksono, President Director of IMATAP, Ministry of Industry.
