KatadataOTO – PT CSI (Chery Sales Indonesia) handed over Tiggo 8 CSH units to its first 100 customers on Saturday (24/05). The ceremony took place at the Chery Puri Andalan dealership, West Jakarta.

Chery's first PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) hybrid car is locally assembled and offered at a price of Rp 499 million for the first 1,000 customers.

“We are very proud that our dealership was chosen to host this special honor,” said Erwin Setiawan, Chairman of Chery Andalan in West Jakarta, on Saturday.

He revealed that Chery Andalan Puri is one of Chery's first dealerships to adopt the latest international concept and occupy a larger area.

“We are committed to continuously supporting Chery's growth through 3S services, namely Service, Sales, and Spareparts at our dealership,” he affirmed.

Since its launch, Chery has successfully attracted 500 buyers. After 1,000 orders, the price will return to the normal price of around Rp 519 million.

This makes it the cheapest PHEV in Indonesia. The price range for plug-in hybrid cars in the country is Rp 1 billion and above.

“I chose the Tiggo 8 CSH because of its technology. There are many other hybrid cars, but they mostly use a gasoline (engine) as their primary (propulsion),” said Brian, one of the Tiggo 8 CSH buyers, on the same occasion.

He considers PHEVs a more reliable solution in Indonesia today compared to electric cars.

The Tiggo 8 CSH can rely on both gasoline and electric power, which is claimed to make it more fuel-efficient.

This also adds a sense of security when the vehicle is taken on long trips out of town, where the availability of SPKLU (Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations) is considered limited.

For your information, the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH is a 7-seater SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) equipped with a 1,500 cc DHE turbo engine.

Comprehensively, or with the combined electric motor and gasoline engine, the power is said to reach 342 hp while the peak torque of 525 Nm is channeled to the front wheels through a DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission).

Without the assistance of the combustion engine, the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH can travel up to 90 km solely on power from its 18.3 kWh battery.
