KatadataOTO – Automotive incentives are considered to have many impacts. For example, they can stimulate a sluggish market like the current one.
The proposed assistance from the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin), has received many positive responses from various parties in the country.
As stated by Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI). They hope the government will provide another stimulus in 2026.
“We from the automotive industry, we certainly hope there will be one (next year),” said Zeng Shuo, President Director of Chery Group Indonesia in Solo, Central Java some time ago.
According to him, Chery is still awaiting the final decision on the proposed incentives to stimulate the new car market in 2026.
The Chery Group boss hopes the government will provide the best for automotive industry players in the country.
“So we hope that the previous policy was quite helpful. We also want to see the automotive industry develop more in the future,” continued Zeng Shuo.
For your information, new car sales in Indonesia have been sluggish throughout 2025. In fact, the results are still far from Gaikindo's expectations.
Gaikindo itself predicts that the market will decline by 10 percent from last year. Therefore, they have revised the previously set target.
From an initial 850 thousand to 900 thousand units, Gaikindo has now set it at around the 780 thousand unit level.
Based on the facts above, the automotive industry is considered to still be in great need of a stimulus to recover in 2026.
“This sector is very important, too important for us to ignore, it's impossible for us to ignore,” said Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Minister of Industry (Menperin) on a separate occasion.
Agus revealed that the sustainability of the automotive industry is considered very influential, considering that this assistance has a large sustainable impact.
The minister to President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the Ministry of Industry will continue to propose government incentives or stimulus for the automotive sector.
Agus further explained that the prepared incentives cover the demand side, and then will target the supply side.
“It is our responsibility, it would be wrong if we did not fight for it,” Agus affirmed.
For your information, the government has allocated incentives with a substantial budget over the last two years. The figure reached Rp 7 trillion for the automotive sector alone.
