KatadataOTO –  The arrival of the PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) Chery Tiggo 8 CSH (Chery Super Hybrid) has been positively received by consumers.

The Tiggo 8 CSH currently holds the record as the cheapest PHEV in Indonesia with a price tag in the Rp 500 million range. Its orders have surpassed 2,000 units since its debut in Indonesia.

An unfortunate fate has befallen another electrified model from PT CSI (Chery Sales Indonesia), namely the Omoda E5.

Even though at its initial launch, the model was one of Chery's main contributors in Indonesia. But its popularity has dimmed after the arrival of the Chery J6 off-road electric car.

Then with the arrival of the Tiggo 8 CSH, it seems the Chery Omoda E5 has to be content sitting at the bottom of Chery's domestic electrification wholesales (distribution from factory to dealer).

“Actually, the trend changed when the J6 came out. When the J6 launched, Omoda E5 (sales) slowed down,” said Budi Darmawan, Sales Director of PT CSI in Jakarta some time ago.

According to Budi, the Chery Omoda E5 indeed competes in a segment with quite stiff competition. Therefore, the decline in the model's sales is considered normal.

“Omoda plays in a segment where the (competition) is very strong,” he said.

Then with the arrival of the Tiggo 8 CSH, there is a possibility that the Chery Omoda E5's presence in the automotive market will dim even further.

However, he is confident that their electrification lineup, including the Chery Omoda E5, can remain in demand and meet consumer needs.

Additionally, in the near future, Chery will start to focus on marketing vehicles under individual sub-brands.

Chery also continues to expand its dealer network and offer its entire vehicle lineup to consumers in various regions.

“By the end of this year, we will open 80 outlets (nationally). Right now, there are 55 dealers that are officially operational,” Budi affirmed.

For your information, the three electrified models from Chery are the Omoda  E5 and J6 electric cars, and then the Tiggo 8 CSH PHEV.

All three products are sold at competitive prices because they are locally assembled at the facility owned by PT HIM (Handal Indonesia Motor) and receive incentives from the government.
