Chery Still Silent on Tiggo 8 CSH's TKDN

The PHEV Chery Tiggo 8 CSH has not yet received government incentives, and PT CSI is still reluctant to disclose its TKDN.

KatadataOTO – Chery Tiggo 8 CSH (Chery Super Hybrid) is touted as the cheapest PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) in the country. The model is also claimed to be locally assembled.

Currently, Chery utilizes the production facilities of PT HIM (Handal Indonesia Motor).

This is said to be one of the factors that makes the Tiggo 8 CSH's price competitive, even far below other PHEVs, which are priced at Rp 1 billion and above.

For comparison, the Tiggo 8 CSH is sold for Rp 499 million specifically for the first 1,000 customers. After that, the price will return to the normal rate of Rp 519 million.

Despite the price cut, it turns out the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH has not yet received incentives from the government.

“Yes, currently we have not registered the Tiggo 8 CSH (for the government's tax subsidy program),” said Zeng Shuo, Country Director of PT CSI in West Jakarta, Saturday (24/05).

When asked about TKDN (Local Component Level), he remained tight-lipped and mentioned the need to re-check with the relevant parties regarding the percentage.

TKDN is one of the important criteria that manufacturers must meet to be eligible for incentives.

“We need an engineering team to provide the number (TKDN percentage). Right now, I still can't answer directly,” said Zeng Shuo.

Slashing Prices Without Subsidies

This is not the first time Chery has introduced an SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) model with a price tag that is considerably lower compared to its competitors.

Before the Tiggo 8 CSH, the gasoline-powered Tiggo 8 was launched in October 2024 with a price range of Rp 349 million to Rp 389 million.

The final selling price of the Tiggo 8 CSH in Indonesia is claimed to have surprised Chery's management.

“So, I was also surprised by this price. When it was presented, my heart was bleeding, the point is for the first 1,000 people to be able to see the latest technology (CSH),” said Zeng on the sidelines of the Tiggo 8 CSH launch some time ago.

However, the hope is that this decision can make PHEV a popular hybrid technology in the country.

It should be noted that the government's tax incentive for hybrid cars is valued at three percent. Some models that have enjoyed this assistance include the Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix HEV and the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid.

Thanks to the tax cut, the prices of both can drop by up to Rp 10 million, making them an attractive option for consumers who want to use environmentally friendly vehicles.
