Chery Tiggo 9 Launches This Year, with Immediate Local Production

KatadataOTO – Chery Tiggo 9 is confirmed to launch this year to provide more model choices for customers. The model will later become the most luxurious option in the Tiggo Series family, which is gaining more and more customers.

Interestingly, the model will be available in two powertrain options: ICE and PHEV. This will make Chery's lineup in the country even more complete.

“Actually, I'm not supposed to announce this yet, but to make it clear, the Chery Tiggo 9 will be launched this year. The model will be available in ICE and PHEV variants,” said Zeng Shuo, Country Director of Chery Sales Indonesia (06/03).

Unfortunately, he did not specify when the launch will take place in the country. This is because they are currently still focused on producing the Chery J6 and Tiggo Cross, which have high demand.

The issue of the Chery Tiggo 9's arrival has actually been widely discussed. Moreover, the model is quite popular in China, so it would be very interesting if it were also brought to the country. 

The Chery Tiggo 9 comes with a bold design and quite large dimensions. It has a length of 4,820 mm, a width of 1,930 mm, and a height of 1,712 mm, while its wheelbase is 2,820 mm.

From the exterior, its appearance is quite attractive with a large diamond grille that has become the manufacturer's hallmark.

Inside the cabin, the manufacturer emphasizes an elegant impression for the car. Physical buttons seem to have been eliminated and replaced by a 15.6-inch touchscreen display.

Chery has equipped it with a 2,000 cc 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. Thanks to this, the power it can produce is 235 hp and 385 Nm of torque.

Not only that, the car is also equipped with an electric motor that can deliver up to 221 hp. All that power is channeled to the wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission.

This performance is believed to meet the driving needs in the country. Especially in urban areas like Jabodetabek.

Chery also confirmed that it will directly produce the model in the country, so its price can be more affordable. They are also still utilizing the production facilities at Handal Indonesia Motor.
