KatadataOTO – A number of Chinese car manufacturers are collaborating to improve the quality of vehicle lighting systems. This step was taken by several companies that are members of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

The meeting, titled the China New Energy Vehicle Quality and Reliability Improvement Project Promotion Conference and the Intelligent Vehicle Lighting and Vision Systems Special Initiative Launch Conference, took place in Changzhou, China.

During the event, automotive manufacturers agreed to carry out a program focused on intelligent vehicle lighting systems. Thus, it is hoped that driving safety in the future can be more optimal.

At least 30 manufacturer representatives were present at the event, including Geely Auto, Great Wall Motor, Seres, and BAIC Group. These companies have already entered Indonesia, so it is not impossible that their technology will be brought to the country.

Each company will establish quality and reliability assurance for vehicle lighting and visual systems. This system will integrate adaptive lighting functions and electronic controls, which are standard features in high-level driver assistance configurations.

The collaboration will make technology development more aligned and interconnected. Thus, it is hoped that it can be implemented more optimally than if they worked individually.

It was not specified in detail when this technology could be embedded in the cars of each brand. However, it will still take a considerable amount of time for the components to work optimally.

Lighting System Regulations in Indonesia

Lighting systems for motor vehicles are considered important for safety. In Indonesia, the government has implemented its own regulations to ensure public safety.

Based on Article 48 paragraph 1 of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation, it is stated that every motor vehicle operated on the road must meet technical and roadworthiness requirements.

In the technical requirements, it is stated that the vehicle's low beam and high beam headlights must be white or light yellow. There must be two of them, or a multiple of two, and they must be installed on the front.

Their installation must not exceed 1,500 mm from the road surface. However, it must not exceed 400 mm from the outermost side of the vehicle.

The lights must also emit light at least 40  meters forward for the low beam. And 100 meters forward for the high beam.
