Daihatsu Will Help Consumers Affected by Sumatra Floods

Here's a look at the production version of Daihatsu's QV-E electric car, rumored to be coming soon to Malaysia.
KatadataOTO – Perodua, the automotive company that produces and sells Daihatsu products in Malaysia, is reportedly ready to launch its first electric car.
Previously, rumors of a Daihatsu electric car have been circulating strongly in Malaysia. The model, based on the eMO-II EV (Electric Vehicle) prototype, was even caught on camera during road tests.
Most recently, the name and logo of the electric car have been registered in Malaysia at MyIPO (Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia).
Graphic designer Theottle attempted to create a production version rendering of the Daihatsu electric car. Filling the compact SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) segment, it appears to blend the designs of the Toyota C-HR and Nissan Kicks at a glance.
According to a report from CarPlus, the registered logo is QV-E with a blue accent. This is a characteristic feature of electrified vehicles, both locally and globally.
Furthermore, based on the sensors placed on the vehicle's exterior during road tests, CarPlus believes the Daihatsu electric car will be equipped with BSM (Blind Spot Monitoring) and RCTA (Rear Cross Traffic Alert).
Meanwhile, regarding specifications, the Perodua QV-E will be equipped with an LFP (Lithium Ferro Phosphate) battery from CATL, claimed to have a range of 400 km to 410 km on a single charge.
However, the Daihatsu electric car will reportedly be offered with a battery rental scheme, similar to what VinFast does in Indonesia. The battery rental scheme is said to benefit consumers because, overall, the car's price becomes cheaper.
Then, owners can replace the battery unit if it is damaged or needs replacement to maintain performance.
The battery's condition can remain optimal. Battery replacement is also said not to take long, only about 30 minutes.
Finally, the battery rental system helps reduce long-term ownership anxiety for electric cars.
It should be noted that Perodua has not explicitly confirmed the launch date of its first electric car.
“But all signs point to a launch in the fourth quarter of 2025, in line with the brand's efforts to promote electrification and energy efficiency,” wrote the CarPlus report, quoted on Monday (02/06).
Meanwhile in Indonesia, PT ADM (Astra Daihatsu Motor) has not revealed plans for a battery-based electrified model.
However, they have showcased several electric cars, such as a pure electric version of the Daihatsu Ayla as a prototype display at their booth during exhibitions, as well as the Rocky Hybrid.
