KatadataOTO – Daihatsu Motor Corporation (DMC) is showcasing their legendary vehicle, the Midget. However, this time the model features a futuristic look.

Although equipped with a modern form and the latest technology, its identity is still maintained.

This is seen in the vehicle's rounded fascia, characteristic of the Midget, or better known as the Bemo in Indonesia.

Then, the design of the headlights and DRLs is no less attention-grabbing. Because the main headlights are round, but the DRLs extend downwards on the fender.

It was mentioned that the return of the futuristic Bemo is not to make it a new car. Rather, it is a vehicle that carries the spirit of the first-generation Midget.

“This car is a DAIHATSUMEI for the future, becoming a small mobility solution that is more comfortable and easy to use,” said Kadomae, Public Relations DMC at Tokyo Big Sight (29/10).

The dimensions of the Daihatsu Midget X are made small for a reason. This is to achieve easier handling.

The unit's length is said to be only 2.2 meters. While the width is 1,295 mm, the height is 1,680 mm, and the wheelbase reaches 1.6 meters.

This makes the unit very flexible for maneuvering on crowded urban streets. Moreover, it is not difficult to find parking.

This tiny vehicle is safer than a bicycle but still not as large as the kei cars popular in Japan.

The doors of the Midget X are designed to open from the front. This facilitates easy entry and exit for the driver and passengers.

Then, the exterior door handle is also quite unique. Because it is round and operated by turning.

On the roof, there are roof rails which can be used to carry items. Although at the rear, a large box in a matching body color is visible.

There is no further information about the box at the rear.

The main and most striking feature of the Daihatsu Midget X is the seating layout. Because it has a 1+2 configuration with seats close to each other.

As a result, you can be closer to family and friends. There are also several deck options available that can be adjusted to the user's needs.

The Daihatsu Midget X is a battery-based electric vehicle, or BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle).

On the black-colored body part located below the door, a digital model battery indicator is embedded.
