KatadataOTO – PT ADM (Astra Daihatsu Motor) has just registered a design for a model that has never been marketed in Indonesia. Upon investigation, the product is the seventh-generation kei car Daihatsu Move.

This information was revealed in the Official Industrial Design Gazette number A00202500816, with the applicant named as Daihatsu Motor in Osaka, Japan. The design was registered on February 13, 2025.

It should be noted that a kei car is a category of small-sized cars, with engine capacity limited to under 1,000 cc. This type of vehicle is widely used in Japan.

Manufacturers from the Land of the Rising Sun generally have kei cars that are specifically marketed to local consumers. Therefore, it is interesting to see Daihatsu register the design in Indonesia, although it is not a guarantee that the related model will be launched, there are still other possibilities.

GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) could potentially be the place where the Daihatsu Move is exhibited to the public.

It seems Daihatsu is not introducing a new product. This kei car could be an interesting feature at their booth during the exhibition.

It should be noted, the seventh-generation Daihatsu Move was launched in early June 2025 with four variant options. There are two engine options, one of which is equipped with turbo technology.

All variants are equipped with a 658 cc engine, offering 51 hp and 60 Nm of torque. The turbo version is claimed to be more powerful at 63 hp with a peak torque of 100 Nm.

There is only a CVT automatic transmission for the Daihatsu Move. However, consumers can choose the drivetrain, either FWD (Front Wheel Drive) or AWD (All Wheel Drive).

In terms of dimensions, the Daihatsu Move has a small size typical of a kei car in Japan, with a length of 3,395 mm, a width of 1,300 mm, a height of 1,655 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,460 mm.

The Daihatsu Move kei car uses sliding doors, which are said to make it easier for the driver to access the cabin when the car is parked in a tight space.

Moving to the interior, the dashboard display is quite simple. Very different from modern cars.

However, Daihatsu has included a nine or 10-inch infotainment screen, depending on the chosen variant. In terms of safety, there are 17 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) functions, including autonomous emergency braking and adaptive cruise control.

It is not yet known whether the Daihatsu Move will be marketed. Because in terms of performance, its power is quite limited as it is tailored for local use in its country of origin.
