KatadataOTO – PT ADM (Astra Daihatsu Motor) has registered a new model that has never been brought to Indonesia, namely the Daihatsu Move.

The car falls into the kei car category, which is only sold in the Japanese market. It has a compact size and an engine capacity of under 1,000 cc.

When confirmed, PT ADM was reluctant to explain whether the Daihatsu Move would be sold to Indonesian consumers in the near future.

“Registering a vehicle patent is a common practice for all automotive principals in every country to protect their intellectual property rights. The same goes for the Daihatsu Move,” said Sri Agung Handayani, Marketing and Corporate Communication Director of PT ADM to KatadataOTO, on Tuesday (01/07).

Indeed, so far it seems Daihatsu will not be bringing a new model for Indonesian consumers, even though the GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) 2025 will be held soon.

However, there is a possibility that the Daihatsu Move will be present as a display vehicle, which could be an interesting treat for exhibition visitors.

“Currently, our 1,000 cc Daihatsu (cars) are very focused on filling the market, especially for first-time buyers with LCGC (Low Cost Green Car) models, namely the Daihatsu Sigra and Ayla,” Agung affirmed.

For your information, the Daihatsu Move design was registered in the Official Industrial Design Gazette with number A00202500816 on February 13, 2025.

The seventh-generation model was launched with four variant choices and two engine options. One of the types is equipped with turbo technology.

All four variants of the Daihatsu Move use a 658 cc engine, claimed to produce 51 hp and a peak torque of 60 Nm. Meanwhile, the turbo version has 63 hp and 100 Nm of torque.

Power is sent to the wheels via a CVT automatic transmission. Consumers can choose between front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive (AWD).

As a kei car, the Daihatsu Move has a relatively small size with a length of 3,395 mm, a width of 1,300 mm, a height of 1,655 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,460 mm.

To make it easier for users, the Daihatsu Move uses sliding doors, making it flexible for getting in and out of the cabin even in tight spaces.
