KatadataOTO – Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid, the first electrification model from PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) for the Indonesian market, is built on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform, the same as the Xenia and Ayla.

There are several advantages offered. Daihatsu revealed that the platform serves as one of the foundations for ensuring consistent product quality across various models.

It is also compatible with embedded hybrid technology. Technically, this can also be applied to other Daihatsu models, including the Xenia and Ayla.

“With DNGA, we are trying to standardize the vehicle structure. We ensure that the vehicle structure from the passenger, driver, and engine side can be optimized up to the production process point,” said Anjar Rosjadi, Design Engineering Division Head and Research and Development at PT ADM in Tangerang recently.

He continued, the Rocky Hybrid is equipped with a 1,200 cc three-cylinder engine combined with hybrid technology. According to Anjar, Daihatsu's technology allows the Rocky Hybrid's thermal efficiency to reach 40 percent.

“Generally, other engines are in the 30 to 35 percent range,” Anjar revealed.

With this configuration, the Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid is claimed to have highly efficient fuel consumption.

Based on the JC08 or Japan Cycle 08 testing method, the figure reaches 34.8 km/liter. Additionally, its emissions are considered low at 83 grams of CO2/km.

Furthermore, the Rocky Hybrid's transaxle has been specially designed with two motor generators. There is also an additional lithium-ion battery with high durability and charging capabilities.

This component is claimed to be quite compact, allowing it to be placed under the Rocky Hybrid's seats without taking up too much space.

The series of hybrid technologies in the Rocky Hybrid can be seen directly at the Daihatsu booth during the GJAW 2025 event.

At the booth, there is a unit that is almost a bare frame, showcasing the engine and electrical components of the Rocky Hybrid along with their explanations.

For your information, GJAW 2025 is still running until November 30 at ICE BSD, Tangerang. Tickets can be purchased through the Auto360 application or directly at the exhibition venue.
