KatadataOTO – Starting the second quarter of 2025, Daihatsu sales immediately faced significant pressure from the market. This is because the overall demand for vehicles in Indonesia has decreased.
This situation was strongly felt by Daihatsu, which only managed to achieve retail sales of 9,801 units. This number dropped drastically compared to the previous month's achievement of 13,111 units.
According to Gaikindo data, this record is the lowest in the first four months of 2025. Nevertheless, they remain the second best-selling manufacturer in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, the Daihatsu Terios became the third best-selling model with sales of 1,198 units. Total retail sales from January – April 2025 were 5,637 units, or 12 percent.
Then, another 2,858 units came from other models not specified by Daihatsu.
It should be noted that Daihatsu's total sales through April 2025 were 46,718 units, capturing 17.5 percent of the Indonesian car market. This number is a significant drop compared to the same period last year, which was 61,566 units, or equivalent to 21.3 percent of national demand.
Nevertheless, they remain optimistic about improving conditions in May 2025. The way to do this is by providing various conveniences so that people feel at ease when purchasing a vehicle.
“We are committed to providing offers and services that meet the needs. Moreover, the current market situation can be a momentum to strengthen our strategy in understanding customer expectations,” said Tri Mulyono, Marketing and Customer Relations Division Head of PT Astra International Tbk. Daihatsu Sales Operation in his official statement (14/05).
