Economic conditions have not fully recovered but are improving, Daihatsu reveals that credit requirements are starting to ease.
KatadataOTO – Bad credit was one of the obstacles faced by Daihatsu in 2025. It should be noted that the majority of their consumers buy vehicles with an installment plan.
The high number of bad credit or Non-Performing Loans (NPL) has resulted in stricter requirements for new vehicle installments.
As a result, many consumers found it difficult to make purchases on credit due to strict surveys. Customers preferred to postpone or switch to used cars.
However, towards the end of the year, Daihatsu revealed that the situation has been improving.
“In the last few months, it has started to recover, perhaps improving in the last two to three months,” said Sri Agung Handayani, Marketing and Corporate Communication Director of PT ADM in Tangerang, some time ago.
According to Agung, the surveys conducted by leasing companies are also no longer as strict as before.
It should be noted that there are several survey stages conducted by the leasing company. For example, direct communication between the prospective debtor and the leasing company, up to BI Checking, also known as a credit history check.
The loosening of car credit surveys makes it easier for consumers if they want to purchase a vehicle. This condition is also expected to help Daihatsu maintain its sales figures throughout 2025.
“Now the lending rate is quite good. The interest rates have also gone down,” Agung affirmed.
To make it even easier for consumers to buy vehicles, Daihatsu has prepared a number of programs for the end of 2025. Especially for the purchase of LCGCs.
“So we are anticipating this by preparing many sales programs, especially for credit. Down Payment, then Term of Payment (TOP). We adjust to their (the consumer's) ability,” said Agung.
For your information, from January to October 2025, Daihatsu ranked second among car brands with the most retail sales (distribution from dealers to consumers) at 112,530 units.
Daihatsu's sales hit their lowest point in May 2025 at 9,997 units. However, they then slowly recovered to the 10,000 to 11,000 range, finally reaching 12,196 units in October.
Daihatsu contributed 17 percent to the overall market share. Toyota remains in first place, recording retail sales of 209,387 units and a market share of 31.7 percent.
