KatadataOTO – Polytron confirms it will launch a new electric car in 2026. This move is proof of its commitment to strengthening the development of electrified vehicles in the country.
Moreover, last year they successfully delivered 353 units of the G3 and G3+ to customers. This number is enough to make them optimistic about continued growth.
“We plan to launch a new electric car in 2026. The model will be locally assembled because there are no longer incentives for CBU (Completely Built-Up),” said Tekno Wibowo, Commercial Director of Polytron in Jakarta (20/01).
Unfortunately, he did not specify in detail which category the electric car will fall into. He only mentioned that the vehicle will be adapted to the driving needs of the public.
However, he revealed that the car they are bringing is still a rebadge of another brand. However, he could not say which brand they are collaborating with for the next model.
“We are not only collaborating with just one brand because we do not limit it. The important thing is that they have a product that suits the market in Indonesia,” he then added.
He even opened up the possibility of bringing in vehicles from outside of China. So that the products offered can be more diverse.
“It could be from India or other regions as long as it meets the needs of the Indonesian market,” he then emphasized.
It should be noted that since 2025, Polytron has officially become one of the electric car manufacturers in Indonesia. They entered the market with two flagship models, the G3 and G3+.
Both models are assembled directly in Indonesia, utilizing the production facilities of Handal Indonesia Motor. This move makes them eligible for incentives provided by the government.
Based on Gaikindo data, these two models have been produced in a total of 531 units. Meanwhile, retail sales amounted to 353 units.
This number is quite interesting because Polytron actually only started selling its vehicles in July 2025. Thus, its achievement is quite good, earning it the 37th position among the best-selling car manufacturers in Indonesia.
