KatadataOTO – The Sumatra Floods which have been occurring for the past few days, have also caught the attention of Daihatsu. As a car manufacturer with many customers in the region, they have taken the initiative to help.

In response to the disaster, PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) has begun coordinating to help employees and customers affected in the Sumatra flood area.

“Yes, this morning we had a meeting with Daihatsu Sales Operation (DSO), we are currently mapping out customers and employees,” said Sri Agung Handayani, Marketing and Corporate Communication Director of PT ADM in Tangerang, recently.

She revealed that communication networks to parties in the disaster-affected locations were temporarily cut off.

However, Daihatsu confirmed that it will prepare various forms of assistance for both employees and customers on the island of Sumatra.

“We are preparing parts at PT ADM that are likely to be affected by the floods, such as ECUs and other critical components. This morning we had a meeting to anticipate this,” Agung affirmed.

Agung said that the main focus at the moment is to prepare first aid for customers affected by the flood disaster.

“What's certain is that from tomorrow (Saturday) to Sunday, we will have staff on duty at all workshops and branches in Padang,” she said.

Agung further mentioned that, until now, all customers are still focused on evacuating and moving to safer areas.

Therefore, there is no concrete information yet regarding the number of affected Daihatsu customer vehicles or the extent of the damage.

“We have to check first (the number of affected customers and vehicles). The team was still checking earlier,” she said.

For your information, the rescue and evacuation process for victims affected by the Sumatra floods is still ongoing.

In West Sumatra alone, as of 12:00 PM WIB today, 88 people have been recorded as dead and 85 others are declared missing.
