KatadataOTO – ADM (Astra Daihatsu Motor) has just opened a new factory. The production facility is located in the Karawang industrial area, West Java.
The construction of this factory demonstrates their seriousness in presenting a variety of the latest technologies. Especially for four-wheeled vehicles in the country.
“So, as part of our commitment to manufacturing, we have also prepared to produce hybrid and electric cars in the future,” said Sri Agung Handayani, Marketing Director & Corporate Communication of ADM in Karawang, on Thursday (27/02).
However, Agung has not yet revealed which electric car or hybrid is planned to be assembled there. And then marketed to domestic consumers.
“I think friends already know that electrification is a crucial part of achieving carbon neutrality. So, let's just wait for this year (for Daihatsu's electrified vehicle),” Agung continued.
Furthermore, he said that while preparing for EVs (Electric Vehicles) and hybrids, Daihatsu will also continue to prioritize conventional vehicles.
Especially for cars in the Rp 300 million price segment. They are still focused on producing the Daihatsu Xenia to the Rocky.
“There is only four percent electrification there, both hybrid and EV. So, to support the motorization of the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) market, someone also needs to pay attention,” Agung affirmed.
On the other hand, when talking about Daihatsu's environmentally friendly vehicles, they have displayed the Rocky Hybrid on several occasions.
Such as during the GIIAS 2022 and 2024 exhibitions at ICE BSD, Tangerang, some time ago.
In fact, the Japanese manufacturer claims to have conducted a study on marketing the Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid to consumers in the country.
“Well, right now we are still conducting studies regarding whether a hybrid or what product is truly needed by the Indonesian people,” said Rokky Irvayandi, Domestic Marketing Division Head of PT ADM on a different occasion.
According to Rokky, Daihatsu is not ruling out the possibility of marketing hybrid cars to domestic consumers in the future.
Especially if consumer interest in these environmentally friendly four-wheeled vehicles is high enough. Therefore, they are continuing to conduct research.
“If there is indeed a need from our consumers in that direction (hybrid cars), it is not impossible that we will move in that direction in the future,” Rokky concluded.
