KatadataOTO – The premium sub-brand of BYD (Build Your Dreams) officially launched in Indonesia on January 22, 2025. This Chinese brand brought in one luxury MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) model, the Denza D9.

The Denza D9 is touted as a competitor to the Toyota Alphard HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle), but it is a pure electric car and is offered at a price below IDR 1 billion.

The lower offered price, exemption from the odd-even traffic policy, and abundant features are said to be a special attraction for Indonesian consumers.

This is evident from the positive sales of Denza in the country. Referring to retail data shared by Gaikindo (Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries), Denza D9 sales in March 2025 reached 1,801 units.

Meanwhile, in February 2025, the Denza D9 was delivered to 519 customers. So in total, the luxury MPV has sold 2,320 units since it was first launched.

The price of the Denza D9 is IDR 950 million on the road in Jakarta. Meanwhile, the latest Toyota Alphard, which carries hybrid technology, is sold starting from IDR 1.71 billion.

The Denza D9 has dimensions of L x W x H of 5,250 mm x 1,960 mm x 1,920 mm with a 3,110 mm wheelbase, allowing this MPV to have a spacious cabin.

Speaking of the powertrain, the Denza D9 uses a Blade Battery with a capacity of 103.36 kWh, capable of producing 308 hp and a peak torque of 360 Nm delivered to the front wheels (FWD/Front Wheel Drive).

Thanks to its large-capacity battery, the offered driving range is 600 km based on the NEDC testing method.
