KatadataOTO – The domestic automotive industry still has to face various challenges to grow sales figures.

Many obstacles are still being faced. As of September 2025, Gaikindo data even shows that new car sales fell by 4.2 percent from August in retail (dealer to consumer).

Meanwhile, cumulatively in the January-September 2025 period, the figure was 585,917 units, or still about 264 thousand short of Gaikindo's initial target.

Amid these conditions, the used car market is said to be experiencing growth and is predicted to continue to expand until 2026.

The lower price compared to a new unit is certainly a special attraction for consumers.

Referring to a study from Ken Research and Deloitte Analysis, the used car market in Indonesia was already considered high as of 2020 with a total of 1.6 million units sold.

“It is predicted that in 2025 the market will be three million with a growth of around 14 percent a year,” said Wahyu Seto, General Manager of Hyundai Mobility Solutions in Jakarta, Wednesday (15/10).

Hyundai is also one of the brands feeling the impact of weakening domestic purchasing power.

With this situation, Hyundai then launched a certified car buying and selling service, namely Hyundai Promise.

This facility is expected to be an attraction for consumers who want to buy a new unit. So they don't have to worry about buying a Hyundai car because its resale value is claimed to be stable.

“We provide a manufacturer's warranty and are transparent. So every car that comes in is curated by us, and its service history must be from an official workshop,” said Seto.

The hope is that Hyundai can take part in the growth momentum of the used car market which is predicted to occur in the near future.

“We hope to bring a positive impact to the used car market in Indonesia,” Seto affirmed.
