KatadataOTO – The economic instability throughout 2025 has apparently also impacted the sales of luxury cars, including BMW.

Official BMW dealers claim their records are still considered positive despite some obstacles.

However, what's in the spotlight is the high demand for certified used cars from BMW, sold through BMW Used Car under Astra.

“Frankly, that (in 2025) was higher than new (BMW) cars,” said Teguh Widodo, Operation Manager of BMW Astra, when met in South Jakarta recently.

The economic conditions that were not fully stable last year became one of the strong reasons for many consumers.

“Most (consumers) initially wanted to buy a new car, they still had the budget but wanted to use a BMW. They turned to Used Cars,” said Teguh.

The used cars sold at BMW Used Car are certified, so their quality is guaranteed.

Consumers do not need to worry about the condition of the unit. A warranty from BMW Used Car is also available to provide customers with peace of mind.

Speaking of the models with the most demand, Teguh revealed it's almost the same as in the new car segment.

“The first is the BMW X1, both the X1 ICE (internal combustion engine) and the Electric Vehicle (EV) or iX1,” Teguh revealed.

The next model that is still a favorite is the 3 Series, then the 2 Series or 218. According to Teguh, the BMW 218 was a trend in 2025.

“The 218 was quite booming last year, a lot of entry-level people (were interested),” Teguh affirmed.

For your information, BMW remained the sales leader in the premium segment in Indonesia throughout 2025.

Referring to retail sales data from Gaikindo, BMW delivered 2,450 new car units to consumers.

Additionally, Mini sold 506 units. In total, the two brands under the BMW Group sold 2,956 units, surpassing Lexus (1,523 units) and Mercedes-Benz (1,277 units).

BMW, together with Mini, successfully secured a 60 percent market share in the premium car segment in the country.
