KatadataOTO – It's not a new thing to hear the names of designers from renowned manufacturers like Lamborghini and BMW moving behind the scenes of Chinese car brands.

Recently, the design of the electric car GAC Aion N60, created directly by Benoit Jacob, a former BMW designer, was revealed.

Reported by Carnewschina, the newest compact Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), the GAC Aion N60, is planned to be marketed to consumers starting in March 2026.

It should be noted that Jacob is one of the people behind the design of the first-generation BMW i3 and i8, the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, the BMW 5 Series GT, and the Audi A5 Sportback.

The GAC Aion N60 design by Jacob still has a luxurious and minimalist feel. At the front and rear, there is a thin LED bar flanking the Aion logo.

There are not many additional ornaments on the GAC Aion N60. The wheels have a four-spoke design that is monotonous yet futuristic, typical of electric cars.

It appears Jacob has maintained the character or design language of GAC Aion's compact vehicle line without sharp lines or angles.

The GAC Aion N60, categorized as an SUV, has dimensions of 4,615 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, 1,673 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,775 mm.

Speaking of specifications, the GAC Aion N60 will be equipped with two electric motors. Each can produce 148 hp and 165 hp of power.

Then, the GAC Aion N60's battery is made of LFP or lithium-iron phosphate material. It is claimed that on a single charge, the car can travel 410 kilometers, 510 kilometers, or 630 kilometers.

Like the majority of recent Chinese cars, the GAC Aion N60 has been equipped with a LiDAR sensor to enhance driving safety in all its model types.

However, it is not yet known whether the GAC Aion N60 will be included in the model portfolio in Indonesia.

But it does not rule out the possibility, considering GAC Aion is still interested in presenting new products according to consumer needs.

Besides GAC Aion, there are other Chinese brands that involve renowned designers in their portfolios.

For example, the BYD Atto 1 electric car designed by Wolfgang Egger, a former designer for the luxury brand Lamborghini.

The BYD Atto 1 attracts attention thanks to its compact and functional size.

In terms of price, the BYD Atto 1 is also offered competitively starting from Rp 199 million. However, that price tag is likely to increase due to the removal of the import tax on electric cars in the country.
