KatadataOTO – PT HPM (Honda Prospect Motor) for the first time is introducing an electric car to consumers in the country. Unlike other manufacturers, their product is only offered through a rental scheme.

Debuting at IIMS (Indonesia International Motor Show) 2025, the Honda e:N1, nicknamed the electric version of the HR-V, is targeting fleet customers. The rental cost reaches Rp 22 million per month.

Then there is a minimum rental period of five years. This means that within that period, the total cost that needs to be prepared is around Rp 1.32 billion.

From the perspective of consumers who use cars for daily use, this figure is certainly fantastic.

However, PT HPM revealed that there are many advantages offered, especially for customers using vehicles for fleet needs.

“Yes, it's easy, (consumers) just have to use it. It's not (overpriced), because it's B2B (business to business),” said Yusak Billy, Sales & Marketing and After Sales Director of PT HPM when met in Sunter some time ago.

Billy emphasized that the Honda e:N1 is also currently available in a limited quantity of around 300 units and is prioritized for fleet customers.

According to him, some of Honda's fleet customers admit they are hesitant to own an electric car because they fear its resale value will drop drastically compared to conventional cars.

“Many companies prefer to rent, not to own,” he said.

Thus, the figure of Rp 22 million per month or the equivalent of Rp 1.3 billion over five years is claimed to be not expensive and is in line with the needs of fleet customers.

After the five-year rental period, it is mentioned that there is an ownership option. So the car becomes the property of the consumer and is no longer a rental.

“You can contact our leasing partner later,” he said briefly.

The Honda e:N1 has an identical shape to the HR-V that is currently marketed in Indonesia. The main difference lies in the powertrain.

The electric car uses a 68.8 kWh battery, offering a range of 500 km on a single charge. The embedded electric motor allows the e:N1 to produce 201 hp and a peak torque of 310 Nm.

There is a DC Fast Charging option to make it easier for consumers to use the electric vehicle. The battery can be charged from 30 percent to 80 percent in just 50 minutes.
