KatadataOTO – PT Bridgestone Tire Indonesia has just launched their latest product, the Turanza 6. The tire is claimed to have several advantages, one of which is that it can be used for electric cars.

We had the opportunity to directly test the difference between the Turanza 6 tire and a similar competitor's product at the Bridgestone Proving Ground in Karawang, West Java.

The Bridgestone Turanza 6 itself is available in 34 sizes, which can be chosen according to consumer needs, for users of hatchbacks, sedans, MPVs (Multi-Purpose Vehicles) to SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles).

The vehicle used to test the performance of the Turanza 6 was a Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid Q type. KatadataOTO, along with several other media outlets, tried it in a taxi ride, accompanied by a test driver from Bridgestone.

In the first stage, we were taken to try the wet track using the Turanza 6. It should be noted that the tires used were size 225/50 with 18-inch rims, and the vehicle was occupied by four adults, including the test driver.

In the wet circle area, we went around the track with a maximum speed limited to 60 km/h. The car felt stable and sturdy because the tires were able to grip the asphalt, which is one of the main differentiators from the competitor's tires.

This is supported by the tire's tread pattern, which is designed to channel water at high speeds starting from 60 km/h. Thus, it is hoped that it can minimize the chance of aquaplaning during the rainy season.

Then, on a rocky road surface at the same speed, the tires were able to help dampen vibrations in the cabin.

We were also given the opportunity to directly assess the tire's noise level, which is claimed to be low, especially from inside the car's cabin.

Unfortunately, there was no dB meter to help objectively measure the tire noise due to time constraints. However, based on KatadataOTO's assessment, the noise level of the Turanza 6 is indeed good compared to its competitor on the same occasion.

“We have already conducted objective noise testing because we have the tools to measure it. It has been used, and its calibration purpose and measurement have been standardized,” affirmed Ahmad Nuril Mujahidin, OE Technical Service Manager of PT Bridgestone Tire Indonesia in Karawang, West Java, on Tuesday (4/2).

For your information, the Bridgestone Turanza 6 is already available for purchase for interested consumers. However, the price varies depending on the store.
