KatadataOTO – There are many choices of electric cars in the Indonesian market. Such as those sold by GAC Indonesia, namely the AION UT.

This electric four-wheeled vehicle has managed to capture the attention of various parties. It is even claimed to have received a positive response from consumers in the country.

"There are already thousands (of Aion UT purchase orders), but for the exact number, I have to confirm again,'' said Andry Ciu, CEO of GAC Indonesia in PIK, North Jakarta, on Thursday (30/10).

The Chinese brand aims to produce a significant number of AION UTs by the end of the year.

This is being done to meet consumer demand. So that buyers do not have to wait long to receive their units.

“Basically, my focus is to be able to produce more than 2,000 units by December, this is the number we are chasing,” Andry added.

It should be noted that the AION UT electric car is one of the vehicle models produced locally. More precisely, at National Assemblers in Purwakarta, West Java.

In the initial stage, GAC Indonesia is targeting a production capacity of up to 20 thousand Electric Vehicle (EV) units per year for all models.

Then with an expansion plan of up to 50 thousand units per year. The first model to be assembled locally is the AION V.

225 Units Handed Over

On the other hand, GAC Indonesia has just held a ceremonial handover of the AION UT to consumers. Especially those who ordered this EV at GIIAS 2025.

The event was held at Mantra, Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), North Jakarta on Thursday (30/10). It was attended by buyers of GAC Indonesia products.

A total of 22 AION UT units were handed over directly to their owners. Marking the start of the official distribution of the electric car from the Chinese manufacturer.

“Two months ago in September, we released a firm price that has been calculated and considered to be competitive against competitors in the same segment,” said Andry.

As a reminder, the CKD status AION UT has undergone several adjustments before being handed over to consumers.
