KatadataOTO – The GIIAS 2025 event has indeed been over for a few weeks. However, the automotive exhibition still leaves a number of topics for discussion.

Including the number of transactions or sales of new cars during the 11-day exhibition.

On a recent occasion, the Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) claimed that transactions during GIIAS 2025 experienced growth.

"It's truly extraordinary that amidst this year's challenges, GIIAS managed to record total transactions of more than 38 thousand vehicle units," said Yohannes Nangoi, Chairman of Gaikindo, through an official report on Tuesday (19/08).

Nangoi explained that the number above increased by 12 percent compared to last year.

As a reminder, the volume of four-wheeled vehicles ordered during GIIAS 2024 was 34,887 units.

"However, the total sales value was recorded to have decreased compared to last year," Nangoi continued.

Unfortunately, Gaikindo is still reluctant to specify in detail the total sales value at GIIAS 2025.

However, he revealed that this situation occurred due to the increasingly competitive prices of vehicle models on the market.

It should be noted that the transaction value at GIIAS last year, or 2024, at ICE BSD, Tangerang reached Rp 18.7 trillion.

"In our opinion, (the phenomenon above) has a positive side for the public," Nangoi affirmed.

On the other hand, Nangoi explained that during GIIAS 2025, there were 485,569 people who attended in person.

"This proves the spirit of the Indonesian automotive industry to continue to rise. We re-emphasize that transactions are not the main goal of GIIAS," Nangoi asserted.

The Gaikindo Chairman believes that the results recorded this year will serve as a strong encouragement for automotive industry players.

Furthermore, Gaikindo sees GIIAS 2025 as an important marker that the automotive industry in the country is still growing positively.

Moreover, the presence of various parties such as the government, industry players, academics, and the general public at this exhibition shows an increasingly strong ecosystem.

And is ready to face the ongoing global changes, including in the future.

It should be remembered that Nangoi previously stated that the transaction value at GIIAS 2025 was slightly corrected compared to last year.

This was due to the sluggish domestic economic situation. As a result, the public's purchasing power was also unenthusiastic.
