Geely has prepared an arsenal to compete with other Chinese manufacturers in the Indonesian market.

KatadataOTO – Geely is starting to heat up the competition in Indonesia's car market. They will compete with other brands from China.
This is because several manufacturers from China have already been offering their flagship products to consumers in the country, such as Chery, BAIC, BYD, Jetour, and Wuling.
Seeing this competition, Geely is very confident in its ability to capture the attention of domestic consumers.
“Although we are new and other brands are already here, we are quite optimistic, especially about EV (Electric Vehicle),” said Yusuf Anshori, Brand Director of Geely Auto Indonesia in Jakarta some time ago.
Yusuf explained that they have several strategies to capture market share in the country.
One of them is not only marketing electric cars. They will also compete in the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) segment.
Furthermore, the Chinese manufacturer also plans to market PHEVs (Plug-in Hybrids). This will allow them to reach a broader range of consumers in the country.
“If you look at Geely's vehicle lineup, it's very extensive. So it won't just be EVs (that are marketed),” Yusuf continued.
He further explained that Geely will assess market needs, especially when wanting to market a product.
However, Yusuf was reluctant to reveal which product would be sold next, after launching the Geely EX5.
“We have an extensive vehicle lineup, so we are still studying the market to decide which one will come after this EV,” he emphasized.
However, Yusuf did not rule out the possibility of them launching other environmentally friendly four-wheeled vehicle models if public interest is high.
“For example, if the current trend leans more towards MPVs or hybrids, we will continue to study it because product-wise, we are ready,” Yusuf concluded.
On the other hand, Geely also plans to build a network of hundreds of dealerships. They will be spread throughout the country.
“Geely plans to expand aggressively. One way is by establishing 100 dealerships in major cities over the next three years,” said Evin Ye, Vice President of Geely Auto International Corporation.
Evin hopes this decision can help Geely penetrate the four-wheeled vehicle market in the country.
This way, it can cater to and provide a sense of security for future owners of the Geely EX5 electric car.
“So that accessibility and premium services can be enjoyed throughout Indonesia,” Evin Ye concluded.
