KatadataOTO – The GWM Tank 300 Diesel has become an option for offroad enthusiasts. The car has been officially on sale since GIIAS 2025.
GWM Indonesia claims that its new product has received a positive response from consumers in the country.
“Consumers in Indonesia have given an extraordinary welcome to the Tank 300 Diesel, which is evident from how GWM's sales performance has increased drastically,” said Thio Adynata, Senior Public Relations Manager of GWM Indonesia in Bogor, West Java on Tuesday (14/10).
Thio admitted to being proud of what they have achieved, as they were able to attract many consumers with the GWM Tank 300 Diesel.
In fact, the new car is claimed to have made a positive contribution to their sales performance in recent months.
“Finally, our (overall) sales figures broke above 200 units for two consecutive months,” Thio continued.
Furthermore, Thio explained that their distribution from factory to dealer (wholesales) in August 2025 is claimed to have increased by 300 percent.
Meanwhile, deliveries from dealers to consumers (retail sales) increased by up to 200 percent. This was thanks to the warm reception for the GWM Tank 300 diesel.
“(We) are trying to meet the various needs of the Indonesian people and it has been well received,” Thio concluded.
For your information, according to data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), the GWM Tank 300 Diesel recorded wholesales of two units in July 2025.
Then throughout August 2025, it reached 59 units. Meanwhile, in September 2025, it broke through to 118 units.
“Actually, our wholesales and retail sales are not that far apart, on average,” Thio emphasized.
Thio considers the presence of the GWM Tank 300 Diesel a step towards product diversification in the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment.
Then they target consumers who are still fond of conventional diesel-fueled engines.
“As we know, diesel engines have many fans. You could even say they are fanatical fans,” said Thio.
He stated that there are still very many fans of cars with diesel engines in the country. So there is a large niche they can tap into.
Such as by presenting the GWM Tank 300 Diesel for offroad or automotive enthusiasts in the country.
“The units (GWM Tank 300 Diesel) that have been handed over to customers are around a hundred plus,” he concluded.
It should be noted that the GWM Tank 300 Diesel sold in Indonesia is still a Completely Built Up (CBU) unit from Thailand.
