GWM Ora 5 Launches, Range Reaches 500 Km

KatadataOTO – The GWM Ora 5 electric car has been officially launched in its home country. The product is touted as the SUV version of the Ora 03, which is currently sold in Indonesia.

The Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) crossover is offered with a starting price of 99,800 yuan. That figure is equivalent to around Rp 235 million.

Unlike the GWM Ora 03, the Ora 5 will also be available in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), and gasoline engine options.

In terms of dimensions, the GWM Ora 5 is also considerably larger, with a length of 4,471 mm, width of 1,833 mm, height of 1,641 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,720 mm.

For comparison, the Ora 03 in the country measures L x W x H at 4,235 mm x 1,826 mm x 1,596 mm with a wheelbase of 2,650 mm.

The design concept is still identical to the Ora 03. The retro feel is highlighted by the use of rounded headlights.

In its home country, the pure electric variant of the Ora 5 is equipped with a single electric motor producing 150 kW or equivalent to 201 hp. Meanwhile, there are two LFP battery options with capacities of 45.3 kWh and 58.3 kWh.

Thanks to this configuration, the GWM Ora 5 can travel a distance of 480 km to 580 km based on the CLTC testing method.

The HEV, PHEV, and ICE types have not been officially launched yet, but later the hybrid variant will use a 1,500 cc turbocharged engine, producing 179 kW (240 hp) of power.

The GWM Ora 5 will be sold in five variants. The lowest type is sold for 99,800 yuan or around Rp 235 million. The top two types are already equipped with LiDAR sensors, priced from 123,800 yuan to 133,800 yuan (Rp 293.5 million - Rp 317.2 million).

Looking at the specifications offered, the GWM Ora 5 has a chance to be present in Indonesia. However, it is known that GWM has instead registered another model that occupies a class above the Ora 5, namely the Ora 07.
