Hankook Reports Growing Interest in Electric Car Tires in Indonesia

KatadataOTO – Currently, the Indonesian electric car market is quite busy. Many products are offered by manufacturers.

Starting from the BYD Dolphin, Wuling Air ev, Aletra L8 EV, Hyundai Kona Electric to the Neta V.

This condition encourages tire manufacturers to innovate. They are competing to create special products for Electric Vehicles (EVs).

As Hankook Tire has been doing in recent years. They have marketed a number of electric car tires.

The South Korean company stated that the domestic electric car tire market continues to grow.

"As for the sales portion, it is currently very small for us. But in terms of growth, we are experiencing a significant increase," said Apriyanto Yuwono, National Sales Manager of Hankook in Jakarta on Thursday (16/10).

Apriyanto explained that sales of Hankook's electric car tires have increased by up to 300 percent compared to last year.

Unfortunately, Apriyanto was still reluctant to elaborate on the exact figures they have achieved in 2024 and 2025.

Nevertheless, the achievement above is a positive note. Because the economic conditions in Indonesia are not doing well.

"Indeed, it might now be time for many electric vehicles to get a replacement," Apriyanto added.

Hankook sees this trend as a big opportunity. Especially since the interest in electric cars continues to grow.

So they can take advantage of this opportunity to rake in more sales of special EV tires.

"Currently, we are continuously adding sizes (of electric car tires). Because the evolution of vehicles is ongoing," he added.

With this step, Hankook hopes to meet the needs of electric car owners.

The public can have many size and model options when they want to replace their EV tires.

So that more people use tires according to their intended purpose, not using products made for conventional four-wheeled vehicles.

"We continue to educate by making special electric car products an optional or alternative choice for consumers in Indonesia," Apriyanto affirmed.

As a reminder, Hankook already offers special tires for its electrification line. For example, the Ventus S1 Evo 3 EV, Ion GT, Ion ST, Ion Evo, and Ion Evo AS.

The sizes offered are also diverse. Starting from 16 inches to 22 inches, they can be adjusted according to needs.
