Here's the look of the BYD Seal Hybrid registered in Indonesia.

KatadataOTO – BYD (Build Your Dreams) is actively registering designs for several new models in Indonesia. Recently, a car with a familiar appearance was registered in the Official Gazette of Industrial Designs of the DGIP (Directorate General of Intellectual Property).

At a glance, it looks like the BYD Seal. The Seal is a high-performance electric sedan that has been sold in the country since last year.

Thus, there is a strong suspicion that the model is a hybrid version of the Seal. This model has already been introduced in its home country, China.

The design was registered under the name BYD Company Limited, located in Shenzhen, China, in the Official Gazette of Industrial Designs No. 12/DI/2025 with application number A00202406455.

At first glance, there is no difference from the Seal EV (Electric Vehicle). However, it appears the wheels used have a different design and are slightly smaller in size.

Then, the BYD Seal hybrid uses conventional-style door handles. Meanwhile, in the electric variant, BYD uses modern-looking flush door handles.

Then, like a gasoline-powered car, the fascia of the BYD Seal hybrid appears busier with the addition of a small black grille.

On the side, the large black accents and side skirts found on the Seal EV are absent. This makes the Seal hybrid look minimalist and elegant, while the electric-powered type emphasizes a sporty impression.

However, it is not yet certain when BYD will launch the Seal hybrid in the domestic market. Considering the provision of incentives from the government following the construction of the BYD factory in Subang, it is not impossible that the new model will arrive in the near future.

In addition, BYD has registered several other hybrid models some time ago, such as the BYD Shark electric pickup.

It should be noted that the hybrid technology used by BYD is DM-i, also known as PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle). This allows the car to be filled with gasoline and also have its battery charged like an electric car.

In its home country, the BYD Seal Hybrid is marketed under the name Seal 05 DM-i, offered in three types: Premium, Luxury, and Flagship. The price range is from 79,800 yuan to 103,800 yuan, equivalent to Rp 180.9 million - Rp 235.5 million.
