KatadataOTO – The use of electric cars is now increasingly massive. Especially in the world of public transportation in Indonesia.
The latest move comes from Express Transindo Utama. They are collaborating with Indomobil National Distributor, as the brand holder agent for Citroen Indonesia.
Express now relies on the Citroen E-C3 All Electric car as their taxi fleet to meet the needs of consumers.
The collaboration between the two parties is a strategic step for both companies in encouraging operational efficiency.
Then accelerating the adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the public transportation sector, thereby providing a different experience for consumers.
“Again, because (this car) is electric, economical, and being from France, it's very comfortable,” said Johannes B.E. Triatmojo, President Director of PT Express Transindo Utama at GJAW 2025.
Johannes said that they prioritize the needs of both passengers and drivers. That is why Express chose Citroen as a strategic partner.
For your information, in the initial stage, Express is not operating too many electric taxis. Only around 30 units of the Citroen E-C3 All Electric.
However, this number will increase over time, adjusting to the needs and demands of consumers in the country.
It is worth noting that the Citroen E-C3 All Electric is equipped with a motor that produces 57 ps or 56.2 hp. Meanwhile, the peak torque reaches 143 Nm.
It is also paired with a 29.2 kWh capacity battery, capable of offering a range of up to 320 km on a single charge.
“We have already collaborated with charger providers; currently, there are four operators,” he continued.
On the other hand, Tan Kim Piauw, CEO of Citroen Indonesia, believes the collaboration with Express is in line with their global vision.
Making the electric car from the Blue Continent a part of the daily lives of the community and the business world.
“The context of this collaboration is not traditional taxis. So Mr. Johannes has explained, this collaboration will be used for online taxis,” said Tan Kim Piauw.
He also hopes the partnership with Express can bring a positive impact, such as increasing the number of EV users in the world of public transportation.
Thus being able to reduce exhaust gas emission figures in the country and reducing the use of fossil-based fuels.
As a reminder, Express Group is now trying to bounce back after having stopped its conventional services post-pandemic.
Some time ago, they also used electric cars as a taxi fleet, such as operating the BYD M6. Now Express is trying its luck with Citroen.
