KatadataOTO – The Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week or GJAW 2025 is an exhibition focused on year-end sales. However, it is undeniable that the current economic conditions still affect people's purchasing power.

Observed at ICE BSD, Tangerang, during GJAW 2025, the crowd was not as large as at GIIAS 2025. A number of booths and dealing areas appeared quiet with few visitors.

Several salespeople said that the number of Vehicle Order Letters (SPK) they received was also not high, even though the exhibition had been running for several days.

“Getting even one (SPK) in a day is not a certainty,” said a salesperson for a Japanese car brand when met by KatadataOTO at ICE BSD, Thursday (27/11).

According to him, the number of visitors only started to pick up on the weekend, specifically Saturday and Sunday. However, he was reluctant to detail the number of orders received at that time.

The salesperson said that his SPK acquisition was not much different from GIIAS 2025, which is to say, quite low.

Meanwhile, a salesperson from another Japanese car brand expressed a similar sentiment. He admitted to having considerable difficulty collecting SPKs despite the attractive programs and offers available.

“Yesterday, on Saturday, I managed to get two SPKs. The other (salespeople) got one,” the salesperson revealed to KatadataOTO.

He believes the current economic situation plays a role in reducing consumer purchasing power. Therefore, he finds it quite challenging to gather orders.

In fact, GJAW 2025 is Gaikindo's last hope to help boost sales figures. With two months remaining, there is still a gap of about 200,000 new car units that need to be sold to meet the target.

Gaikindo itself has set an optimistic target for 2025 in the range of 850,000 units by the end of the year. During the January-October period, the figure only reached around 660,000.

Therefore, GJAW 2025 is being held with various attractive programs and promotions, as well as financing facilities. The hope is to attract consumer interest in purchasing new vehicles.

GJAW 2025 will continue until November 30. At the end of the exhibition, various brands usually announce their achievements during that period.

It remains to be seen how vehicle sales will perform during GJAW 2025, especially after many attractive offers and discounts have been presented to consumers.
