KatadataOTO – Prof Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendikti Saintek), came under the spotlight after being protested by his own employees (20/01). The protest was held after he was said to have fired an employee without following proper procedures.

The public has become more curious about him, including the vehicles registered in his name. These records are quite easy to see as they have all been submitted in the State Officials' Wealth Report (LHKPN).

In the 2024 report, he was recorded as having total assets worth Rp 46.05 billion. Of that amount, transportation equipment and machinery are valued at Rp 1.4 billion, divided among four vehicles.

First is a 2016 BMW X3, which was self-purchased, valued at Rp 400 million.

Next is a 2020 Toyota Kijang Innova. In the report, the car's value is stated as Rp 200 million.

Then the next vehicle collection is a 2011 Ford Escape 2.3L Limited. The car is estimated to be worth Rp 100 million.

Most interesting is the presence of a 2024 BYD Seal valued at Rp 700 million in the LHKPN, which was also self-purchased.

Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro also owns seven land and building assets valued at Rp 33.65 billion. Their locations are spread from Jakarta to Bali with varying values.

He also has assets in the form of securities valued at Rp 11 billion.

Denies Firing Employee

It should be noted that Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro was protested by his employees for allegedly dismissing a ministry employee named Neni Herlina from her position as head of household affairs.

However, he asserted that this was not true. He only carried out a transfer and rotation, which is a common practice in an agency or ministry.

"I have already conveyed to the person concerned that the ministry has never fired anyone. The ministry conducts transfers or rotations, which is a very common thing for an institution, whether governmental or non-governmental," said Satryo.

He also explained that he had discussed with the dismissed Kemdiktisaintek employee, Neni Herlina, and Suwitno as the Head of the Dikti Employee Association. Both were said to have understood the policy.
