KatadataOTO – Hino is optimistic that the pressure on the automotive industry felt in 2024 can be reduced this year. The easing of the political agenda is expected to stabilize the economy, allowing the vehicle market, especially for commercial vehicles, to grow.

Although the growth is not expected to be significant, it will at least help manufacturers survive in the national automotive market.

“We hope there will be a sales increase of two to five percent compared to last year,” said Susilo Darmawan, Sales Director of PT. Hino Motors Sales Indonesia (HMSI) to the media some time ago.

The biggest potential for growth is expected to come from the commercial vehicle sector, such as trucks. This is because many toll roads are now connected, making mobility easier than before.

“In addition, inter-city goods delivery will certainly increase because online sales have grown significantly,” he later said.

However, Susilo acknowledged that there are still several challenges the company must face in 2025. One of them is the strict motor vehicle credit regulations from financing companies.

“Most sales are made on credit. So, if the financing companies themselves do not provide full support, it will be a challenge for us,” he emphasized.

Not only that, he assessed that the widespread practice of Over Dimension Over Loading, commonly known as ODOL, also has a negative impact. This is because the capacity that should be carried by two vehicles is forced onto a single truck.

“For example, a truck's capacity for a single trip is 20 tons, but it is then forced to accommodate 35 tons,” he later said.
This situation is considered detrimental to the company because the number of units sold becomes less than it should be.

Nevertheless, he emphasized that they will implement several strategies to optimize vehicle sales this year. One of these is maintaining the product quality that is already well-known to the public.

“We are also maximizing after-sales by providing training to technicians to meet standards. So, we hope to maintain customer satisfaction,” he concluded.
