Sales of the Honda HR-V RS Turbo were eventually discontinued due to its excessively high price, leading to low demand.

KatadataOTO – PT HPM (Honda Prospect Motor) has launched a hybrid variant of one of their flagship SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles), the HR-V.

This is Honda's fourth e:HEV product in Indonesia, as well as the cheapest and locally assembled.

The price of the Honda HR-V Hybrid has been successfully kept below Rp 500 million thanks to a three percent tax incentive or subsidy from the government.

“The interest was low, the HR-V (RS Turbo) sales were small. Maybe because the price was expensive, around Rp 551 million,” said Yusak Billy, Sales and Marketing & After Sales of PT HPM in Anyer some time ago.

He revealed that the hybrid variant is believed to be a viable option because its price has dropped by up to Rp 60 million for the highest trim.

The favorite Honda HR-V variant before the hybrid type was launched was the SE. As of 2024, its total wholesale figure is 17,865 units.

In April 2025, HR-V wholesale numbers plummeted, likely because shipments from the factory to dealers were gradually reduced ahead of the HR-V Hybrid launch.

Billy believes that HR-V Hybrid sales can contribute positive results in the future.

“We believe that hybrids are actually more comfortable to use compared to other forms of electrification for now,” he said.

On the other hand, Honda salespeople have also started offering discounts on the HR-V SE.

“For the HR-V SE model before the hybrid, discounts are up to Rp 40 million,” a Honda salesperson told KatadataOTO some time ago.

He further revealed that the discount applies to 2025 manufacturing year units.

Although there is no retail sales data yet (distribution from dealers to consumers), the HR-V's wholesale figures have been recorded by Gaikindo (Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries).

  • January, 869 units
  • February, 1,371 units
  • March, 1,033 units
  • April, 18 units

For the newest model, Honda is targeting to sell 2,000 units of the HR-V Hybrid and non-hybrid each month.

However, that target is said to be subject to change depending on market conditions. Honda believes that public purchasing power is still weak.
