KatadataOTO – PT HPM (Honda Prospect Motor) once exhibited the hybrid technology MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle), the Stepwgn, at the GIIAS 2024 (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) event.

Despite having conducted a price survey and being said to have many interested buyers, Honda has yet to launch the model to consumers.

Not long ago, PT HPM instead presented the Civic RS e:HEV without a special ceremony. Then in the near future, the hybrid version of the HR-V is strongly believed to be launched.

Meanwhile, there has been no further news about the Stepwgn. When confirmed, Honda only affirmed that they are increasingly confident about bringing it to the Indonesian market.

“We can't talk about the (price) yet. The economy is still fluctuating, so we have to make the best decision,” said Yusak Billy, Sales & Marketing and After Sales Director of PT HPM when met in Sunter some time ago.

Billy revealed that many consumers have started asking when HPM will launch the Stepwgn that was displayed at the GIIAS 2024 exhibition.

Salespeople have even started offering potential customers to make a booking. Based on KatadataOTO's search, the price range for the Stepwgn is around Rp 699 million.

“There might be dealers who are approaching loyal (customers) to book in advance. It seems so,” said Billy.

For your information, the Honda Stepwgn will fill the hybrid technology sliding door MPV lineup. A similar model already on the market is the Nissan Serena e-Power, priced at around Rp 645 million.

“Please wait. We are increasingly confident about launching the (Stepwgn e:HEV) soon,” Billy emphasized.

The Stepwgn is touted as a replacement for the Freed with a larger capacity, considering Honda mentioned that consumers want an MPV that can accommodate more passengers.

For comparison, in the Hong Kong market, the Stepwgn e:HEV is sold for 389,880 HKD or around Rp 808.3 million in rupiah currency.

Other sliding door MPVs in Indonesia besides the Nissan Serena e-Power are sold for over Rp 1 billion, filling the premium segment. The choices are the Toyota Alphard HEV and Vellfire HEV.

Currently, Honda already has several hybrid models, including the Accord, CR-V, and Civic RS.
