KatadataOTO – PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) has signaled the arrival of a new electric car for Indonesian consumers, namely the Honda Super One.

Although still a prototype, Honda seems to have started finalizing its sales plans for the Super One. Recently, a unit was seen being road-tested in the country, wrapped in camouflage.

Honda is still keeping information about the Super One electric car launch under wraps but has revealed it will announce the product's future in Indonesia.

“In the not too distant future, we will likely make our final decision regarding the plans for this car,” said Shugo Watanabe, President Director of PT HPM in Jakarta recently.

According to Watanabe, Honda's decision to road-test the Super One is to ensure the vehicle's readiness before it is marketed in a specific country.

He revealed that this is also part of a global test conducted in several other countries where the Honda Super One will be marketed in the future.

“Essentially, if we didn't have concrete plans, we certainly wouldn't be conducting tests in Indonesia,” Watanabe affirmed.

If launched, the Super One will be PT HPM's second electric car after the e:N1. However, the e:N1 is not sold to the public but is offered through a leasing scheme.

According to PT HPM, the leasing scheme for the e:N1 electric car is still more suitable for its target consumers, many of whom are fleet customers. In terms of cost, the e:N1 electric car can be used for a fee of around Rp 22 million per month.

Honda Indonesia has not yet confirmed the scheme that will be used for the Super One upon its launch.

The Honda Super One is touted as an electric version of the Brio with compact dimensions. Its front design is vaguely reminiscent of the Honda e:.

Sales of the Honda e: were discontinued in Japan in December 2023 due to low demand. The Super One is the new, improved ammunition, tailored to market needs and tastes.

There is no complete information on technical specifications yet, but Honda says the Super One will focus on the unique "Fun of Driving" character that pampers the driver.
