KatadataOTO – PT HMID (Hyundai Motors Indonesia) not only introduces electric cars in Indonesia, but also HEVs (Hybrid Electric Vehicles). The South Korean brand brought in the Santa Fe Hybrid even before the government officially provided incentives.

It should be noted that the current incentive for hybrid cars is a tax reduction of three percent from the initial value of 12 percent. The hope is that this can attract public interest in purchasing environmentally friendly vehicles.

Moreover, the implementation of incentives has the potential to lower the selling price of cars. This makes them more competitive and closer to the price of other gasoline-powered cars in the same class, although the amount is much smaller compared to the subsidy for BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicles).

However, Hyundai claims that many Santa Fe Hybrid buyers are not too concerned about the existence of incentives or the price of hybrid cars.

“Interestingly, Santa Fe consumers are not too price-sensitive. Some are, but most of them, if they like it, they buy it,” said Thomas Sigit Pamungkas, Head of Sales Strategy at PT HMID at JIExpo Kemayoran, Tuesday (18/2).

According to him, the order numbers for the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid are also quite good. The demand has increased when viewed globally.

Thomas revealed that policy changes in the United States have resulted in more people using hybrid cars rather than electric vehicles.

For the Indonesian market, Thomas emphasized that his party will try to continue following the policies provided by the government and offer various purchasing conveniences for buyers.

“Conveniences like low interest rates, low DP (down payment), are some of the initiatives from each brand,” he asserted.

For your information, there are two hybrid car models offered by Hyundai, namely the Santa Fe Hybrid and the Tucson Hybrid. The Santa Fe is locally assembled, while the Tucson is still a CBU (Completely Built Up) unit, meaning it is fully imported.

It is not yet known when the Santa Fe will be registered for the hybrid car incentive program. If it receives a subsidy, there is a chance its price could drop, as has been done by Toyota with the Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid.

The following is the price range for the Hyundai Santa Fe in Indonesia. The figures are on-the-road prices for Jakarta.
