KatadataOTO – The safety of both the driver and passengers is an important factor for a vehicle. Therefore GAC AION conducted a test.
Especially for the electric car Hyptech HT. This EV (Electric Vehicle) underwent a crash test organized by C-IASI (China Insurance Automotive Safety Index).
“This test is one of the most stringent and destructive safety evaluation procedures in the automotive world,” they wrote in an official statement, Friday (23/05).
It was explained that the Hyptech HT crash test process took place at GAC AION's R&D facility in Guangzhou, China.
It was then conducted with a crash test scenario of a 25 percent right front overlap at a speed of 64 km per hour, hitting a rigid wall.
“This is not just an ordinary test, but a real simulation of the riskiest accidents that can happen on the road,” they continued.
Meanwhile, in the simulation, the A, B, and C pillars remained intact without deformation. Then, the impacted door could be opened normally.
From the crash test results, it was seen that the sub-frame remained sturdy, the battery system was not disturbed, and the entire body was preserved.
These results prove that the Hyptec HT's frame structure design is capable of efficiently absorbing and distributing the energy from the collision.
Furthermore, without sacrificing cabin space or passenger safety. So it remains safe inside this EV (Electric Vehicle).
“The force from the impact can be channeled longitudinally to the impact absorption zone (crumple zone),” said Gu Zongqiang, GAC Structural Analysis Engineer.
Zongqiang then explained that the cabin's lateral structure directs pressure to various points to avoid direct damage to the cabin.
“It can be seen that the driver's A-pillar is given an additional layer of protection, making the Hyptech HT's body structure one of the most crash-resistant in the pure electric SUV category,” he said.
It should be noted, the Hyptech HT is equipped with three-point seat belts with pre-tensioners. Then, the six-sided airbags deploy gently when an impact occurs.
Thus providing optimal protection for all passengers. Considering the crash test dummies placed in all seats showed results of minimal injury levels.
Thus, the Hyptech HT becomes the first pure electric SUV to successfully achieve the 3G+ safety certification from CIRI (China Insurance Research Institute).
