KatadataOTO – HMID (Hyundai Motors Indonesia) does not stop presenting new products. Especially for vehicles in the premium segment.

Because the South Korean manufacturer is opening up the possibility of bringing an eco-friendly version of the Hyundai Staria.

“So for the Staria, we are indeed considering whether there will be a hybrid version or even an EV (Electric Vehicle),” said Fransiscus Soerjopranoto, COO (Chief Operating Officer) of HMID at IIMS 2025 some time ago.

According to Frans, this is being done to encourage the public, especially the upper-middle class, to use eco-friendly four-wheeled vehicles.

A similar sentiment was also expressed by Diky Zulkarnaen, Chief Sales Officer of HMID. He stated that his party is currently conducting a study to bring in the Hyundai Staria Hybrid.

According to Diky, Hyundai has to go through many stages when presenting a new product. So that it can meet consumer needs.

Moreover, public interest in Hyundai's large car is still quite high. Especially for corporate and fleet customers.

“Actually, in the context of launching or introducing a new variant, we always base it on the results of the surveys we use,” said Diky.

Unfortunately, the brand from the Land of Ginseng has not yet been able to reveal when the Hyundai Staria Hybrid will hit the roads in the country.

“We see that in this segment, the opportunity is on the engine side and incidentally, the Staria has an advantage in its performance,” Diky emphasized.

It should be noted that the Hyundai Staria marketed domestically relies on a 2,200 cc CRDi Turbocharged (E-VGT) diesel engine.

Speaking of performance, on paper, the Hyundai Staria's engine power reaches 174 hp and 430 Nm of torque.

Hyundai Staria Hybrid Has Been Launched

As a reminder, the Hyundai Staria Hybrid has been marketed in South Korea in 2024. It carries a 1,600 cc Smartstream turbocharged mechanical heart paired with hybrid technology.

The engine is capable of producing 178 hp of power and 265 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, its electric motor can release a maximum power of 72 hp and 304 Nm of torque.

The combined output is 242 hp and 367 Nm of torque. This is considered sufficient to carry a car weighing 2,220 kg with a fuel consumption of 12.9 km per liter.

So, the arrival of the Hyundai Staria Hybrid in the country is worth waiting for, so it can be owned by consumers.
