KatadataOTO – To survive in the Chinese market, automotive manufacturers are starting to prepare special models tailored to the tastes and needs of its people.

South Korean manufacturer, Hyundai, has finally introduced the Elexio, an EV (Electric Vehicle) built on the e-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) platform.

Reported by Carnewschina, Friday (09/05), the Elexio was developed by Hyundai and BAIC over five years. This electric car will be launched in the third quarter of 2025.

To keep up with rivals in China, the Elexio is equipped with various advanced technologies and wrapped in a modern design.

Its appearance looks sporty, yet also minimalist and elegant. The fascia is unified using Hyundai's EV signature, namely an LED bar and projector headlights with a checkered pattern.

The rear is unique with a small window and a Hyundai emblem embedded at the bottom, while the Elexio lettering stretches across the rear tailgate.

Similar to the Ioniq 5, Hyundai has equipped the Elexio with flush-style door handles to add a sleek and modern impression.

The sporty look is complemented by the use of 20-inch multi-spoke wheels.

Complete technical specifications have not yet been published by Beijing Hyundai. However, it is known that the Elexio's cabin will be available in premium color options.

Furthermore, the driver will be assisted by the presence of a display unit powered by a Qualcomm 8295P chip. This allows features like online navigation and voice commands to be accessed practically and quickly.

Driving safety support features are also included. There is an L2+ intelligent driving assistance system with highway navigation capabilities supported by Huawei's HarmonyOS Intelligent Mobility.

In terms of performance, the Hyundai Elexio is said to be able to travel up to 700 km on a single charge.

A fast-charging option is also available; owners can charge the battery from 30 percent to 80 percent in just 27 minutes.

It is not yet known how likely the Hyundai Elexio is to be offered to the global market. It seems to be focusing on Chinese consumers first.

Globally, Hyundai already has several EV models such as the Kona Electric, Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and the newest Ioniq 9.

Three of the four electric car models have been launched in Indonesia. The Kona Electric and Ioniq 5 are locally assembled, while the Ioniq 6 is fully imported from South Korea.
