KatadataOTO – PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) will introduce the electric car Hyundai Ioniq 9 to Indonesian consumers.

Previously, the Korean manufacturer revealed that there are still a number of models to be brought to the country, including hybrid and pure electric cars.

Although the compact Electric Vehicle (EV) Inster is strongly suspected to be one of them, the Motor Vehicle Sales Value (NJKB) for the Hyundai Ioniq 9 was registered first.

Based on KatadataOTO's search on Friday (29/08), there is one variant listed named IONIQ 9 EV CAL 4X4AT with an NJKB of Rp 699 million.

When compared to previous models like the highest variant of the Ioniq 5 EV, the selling price of the Ioniq 9 electric car is likely to be higher.

For comparison, the registered NJKB for the Ioniq 5 is Rp 603 million. Meanwhile, its on-the-road price is around Rp 844.6 million.

However, it should be noted that the Ioniq 5 already has Completely Knocked Down (CKD) status and receives a 10 percent tax incentive from the government.

For your information, Hyundai has confirmed the introduction of the Ioniq 9 in Indonesia.

This 6-seater electric car will launch in South Korea on February 13, 2025, after being introduced towards the end of 2024.

“We will try to bring the CBU (Completely Built Up) units from South Korea first this year to show to Indonesian consumers,” said Ju Hun Lee, President Director of PT HMID, in Lampung some time ago.

After studying and surveying consumer interest, the local assembly of the Hyundai Ioniq 9 will then be carried out.

This decision was made considering the production capacity of the Hyundai Ioniq 9 in Korea is claimed to be limited.

"Next year, there will be planning for production preparation in Indonesia. Globally, the Ioniq 9 is very popular, so as far as I know, the production capacity in Korea is completely full," he affirmed.

It should be noted that the Hyundai Ioniq 9 is touted as the twin of the Kia EV9, which is already marketed domestically.

However, its battery capacity is said to be larger at 110.3 kWh, offering a range of 620 kilometers based on the WLTP testing method.
