KatadataOTO – Chery has officially started production for their first Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) model, the iCar V27.

Reporting from CnEVPost, the iCar V27 is produced at Chery's assembly facility located in Wuhu, Anhui, China.

Just like the iCar 03, also known as the Chery J6 in Indonesia, the iCar V27 still has a 5-seater configuration, or can accommodate five passengers.

The boxy design language is also maintained. The main differentiators are the design of the headlights, grille, and wheels.

Its dimensions are also larger than the Chery J6. The iCar V27's length reaches 4,909 mm, width 1,976 mm, and height 1,855 mm.

In terms of design, the iCar V27 has a similar appearance to the iCar V23, which is believed to enter the Indonesian market first.

“This model will be launched domestically in China in the first quarter of 2026 and then exported to the Middle East market,” wrote the CnEVPost report, quoted on Tuesday (13/01).

Just like the iCar V23, the V27 is also targeted to be available in other potential countries in the future.

Speaking of specifications, the iCar V27 is equipped with a 1,500 cc turbo engine combined with an electric motor.

The car can produce 105 kW of power, equivalent to 274.9 hp. Two drivetrain options are offered: All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD).

The AWD variant can produce greater power at 355 kW, equivalent to 455 hp. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h can be achieved in just 5.5 seconds.

Its comprehensive driving range is claimed to be over 1,200 kilometers. Meanwhile, its pure electric range is 200 kilometers.

In addition, the V27 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P system and a 15.4-inch head unit with 2.5K resolution.

For your information, iCar will enter Indonesia at the Indonesia International Motor Show or IIMS 2026. The iCar vehicle lineup will be sold under the Jaecoo brand, not Chery.

The first model believed to debut for consumers is the V23. Chery has also confirmed that all products under the Chery Group, including iCar, will be locally assembled.
