JAC Motors Confident in Commercial EV Sales, Straight to Local Assembly

KatadataOTO – The selection of commercial Electric Vehicles or EVs has a new guest from China, namely JAC Motors. The brand is bringing three models at once for consumers in the country.

However, the use of electric-powered commercial vehicles is not yet massive due to various obstacles, such as infrastructure.

But JAC Motors is confident that their vehicle lineup will be in demand. In fact, all of them will be locally assembled at the PT National Assemblers facility.

They see the ecosystem as one of the obstacles. Therefore, JAC Motors will focus on developing supporting infrastructure to make it easier for users.

“This is why JAC Motors is focusing on the ecosystem; we cannot stand alone. We are collaborating with various partners, for example, Utomo Charge Plus,” said Reggie Kurnia, Chief Operating Officer of Indomobil JAC Motors in Jakarta, on Tuesday (19/08).

Reggie further revealed that there is a shift in the needs for commercial vehicles in Indonesia. Electric-powered commercial vehicles are considered capable of meeting consumer needs for efficiency.

When asked about the less-than-massive sales of other commercial electric vehicle brands in Indonesia, Reggie remained confident in attracting consumers through capable specifications and attractive sales promotions.

“That might be the other (brands). Indomobil JAC Motors is confident in terms of brand and after-sales,” Reggie affirmed.

Regarding dealers and the official workshop network, JAC Motors will also utilize the network owned by the Indomobil Group.

Therefore, consumers are said to not have to worry about vehicle maintenance and repairs if the car is damaged.

In total, there are 73 dealers belonging to the Indomobil Group. However, three outlets are being prepared exclusively for JAC Motors.

“Spare parts and necessities have been prepared. From the after-sales side, we provide training to our colleagues at the Indomobil Group, including those we train directly in China,” said Edo Putro, Technical and After Sales Division Head of Indomobil JAC Motors on the same occasion.

The three dealers are spread across the Jakarta, Surabaya, and Balikpapan areas. He did not specify the target number and locations of JAC Motors dealers in the future.

In addition, until October 31, 2025, there is a sales promotion for the purchase of its three model lines.

For example, the purchase of 10 units of the Metromover N35 EV comes with a prize of five grams of precious metal. Meanwhile, the purchase of 10 units of the Urbanmover N90 EV or Trekker T9 EV includes one free unit of the Indomobil Emotor Tyrano.

If purchasing a larger quantity, namely 50 units, consumers will have the opportunity to get one VIP ticket for a tour of the JAC Motors factory directly in China.
