KatadataOTO – The Jaecoo J5 EV is claimed to have received a positive reception from the public in Indonesia. In fact, around 10,000 units of this electric car have been ordered as of December 2025.
This makes the waiting period or indent to get a unit quite long. So consumers have to be a little patient.
Even so, Jaecoo Indonesia is trying to maximize the delivery of their Electric Vehicles (EVs) to consumers.
“With such high demand, we are trying to add a production line with production capacity, of course,” said Mohamad Ilham Pratama, Head of Marketing for Jaecoo Indonesia, in a Forwot discussion titled Indonesia Automotive Outlook 2026.
Ilham stated that they will try their best to deliver the Jaecoo J5 EV to consumers.
So this Jaecoo electric car can be used in the near future. It can also be relied upon for various mobility needs.
It was further mentioned that one way to shorten the indent period for the Jaecoo J5 EV is to produce it in two different factories.
The first is at Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM) in Purwakarta, West Java. The other will also utilize the facilities of Inchcape Indonesia.
“However, as for the production capacity (at Inchcape), I cannot say yet. Because I am still waiting for coordination from internal parties,” Ilham continued.
He said that with these efforts, they are targeting 10,000 Jaecoo J5 EVs to be distributed to consumers by February 2026.
Jaecoo wants all orders that have come in since GJAW 2025 to be completed in the near future.
“The point is there is an increase in production capacity from what we previously had. So now what is being produced at this new place is the Jaecoo J5 EV,” Ilham emphasized.
As a reminder, the Jaecoo J5 EV is equipped with an electric motor with a power of 155 kW, equivalent to 207.8 hp. The peak torque reaches 288 Nm.
Then paired with a 60.9 kWh capacity battery, it allows the car to travel up to 461 kilometers (NEDC) on a single full charge.
Owners also don't need to worry about charging. Because a 130 kW fast charging feature is available.
Charging the Jaecoo J5 EV electric car from 30 percent to 80 percent only takes about 28 minutes, so there's no need to wait too long.
